NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island police say they arrested two Massachusetts residents after their car struck two police cruisers and a detective during a chase from North Kingstown into Narragansett.
Authorities say a North Kingstown officer tried to pull over a speeding car Monday morning, but ended the pursuit for safety reasons.
Troopers say the car later rammed two Narragansett police vehicles, hit the detective and crashed in a field. Authorities say a police captain suffered an arm laceration while arresting the suspects. The officers' injuries weren't life-threatening.
The alleged driver, 23-year-old James Mullin of Marlborough, Mass., was charged with assault and other crimes. The passenger, 20-year-old Amy Iacovelli of Hopkinton, Mass., was charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
Both were held on bail. It's not clear if they have lawyers.
