JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) — An 81-year-old man was hit by a construction truck and dragged about 125 feet in Johnston.
Police say Anthony Caparco was watching a contractor for National Grid doing construction work, when the truck backed up, hit him, and dragged him.
He was trapped under the truck, and the fire department had to extricate him. Police say he was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries thought to be non-life threatening.
Police say the backup beepers on the truck were working, and that federal workplace safety investigators will investigate to determine if there were any violations.
