PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Legislation to authorize a "Choose Life'' license plate in Rhode Island is headed to Gov. Lincoln Chafee.
The House held a final vote Tuesday after the legislation won preliminary approval in the House and Senate the day before.
Abortion rights supporters are calling on Chafee to veto the bill, saying the state shouldn't inject itself into the emotional and contentious debate surrounding abortion.
Half of the plate's $40 price would go toward faith-based efforts to prevent abortion. Supporters argue that those opposed to the plates have the option of not purchasing one.

Chafee supports abortion rights but hasn't weighed in on the bill.
Twenty-nine states offer similar plates.
Rhode Island already offers plates supporting environmental conservation, breast cancer research, food banks and charitable activities of the Red Sox and Patriots.
