PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Flood warnings by the National Weather Service remain in effect in Rhode Island while many residents deal with flooded roads and basements.

Parts of some neighborhoods in Cranston and Bristol were under water Monday, while Providence authorities responded to a Jeep that went into the swollen Mosshasuck River. The driver wasn't injured.

The Weather Service says the flood warning for the Pawtuxet River at Cranston will remain in effect until Wednesday night. The river was at 9.6 feet Monday, above the 9-foot flood stage, and forecasters expect it to reach about 10½ feet by Tuesday morning, affecting parts of Cranston and Warwick.

Forecasters say the Pawcatuck River at Westerly is two feet above the 7-foot flood stage, while the Blackstone River at Woonsocket is nearly a half-foot above flood stage.
