PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police say a 57-year-old man has been linked to 29 burglaries in Rhode Island after being caught breaking into a Providence store.
Police tell the Providence Journal that Allan Jett has been charged with 18 counts of breaking and entering and one count of possessing burglary tools.
Police say officers who responded early Friday when an alarm went off at the Amazing Super Store in Providence arrested Jett after a brief foot chase.
The say he has admitted to 18 break-ins in Providence and 11 others in East Providence, South Kingstown, Narragansett and Cranston.
He was arraigned in District Court and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions after failing to post bond. He is due back in court on Aug. 12.
