Man pleads to Johnston killings, gets 4 life terms

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend and her adult daughter last year, then kidnapping the woman's toddler son, has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to multiple life terms.

Daniel Rodriguez pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of 40-year-old Evelyn Burgos and 25-year-old Vanessa Perez at their Johnston home. He also pleaded guilty to kidnapping and weapons charges.

The judge sentenced Rodriguez to four life terms, plus 50 years.

A nationwide Amber Alert was initially called for Burgos's 2-year-old son. He was later found unharmed wandering through a Providence neighborhood.

Rodriguez did not make a statement in court. Another of Burgos's daughters broke down while addressing the court and the prosecutor delivered her statement.
