PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Mayor Angel Taveras's annual state of the city address has been postponed until next week because of the forecast for significant snow accumulation.
The mayor was scheduled to deliver remarks Wednesday evening at city hall. The address has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 11.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning across the state, with between 8 and 12 inches of snow forecast for Providence and Kent counties. The storm is expected to begin overnight.
Taveras, who took office in 2011, announced in October he was seeking the Democratic nomination for governor. He is facing General Treasurer Gina Raimondo and Clay Pell, grandson of the late U.S. Sen. Claiborne Pell, in the primary.
