PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island's two U.S. senators are set to host a discussion about the impact federal budget cuts are having on the state.

U.S. Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse are scheduled to host the talk Wednesday morning at Rhode Island Housing's offices in Providence.

The two Democrats say they're looking to gather input from Rhode Islanders about the effect the automatic spending cuts are having on government services in the state.

Rhode Island Adjutant General Kevin McBride, a research official from the University of Rhode Island, an advocate of Head Start early education programs and others are expected to participate in Wednesday's event.
