LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) _  The state's YWCA chapter will be honoring 11 Rhode Island women for their achievements next month, including first Stephanie lady Chafee and National Guard Maj. Lynne Hannon.

The YWCA's ninth annual awards luncheon is set for Sept. 26 at the Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. Eleven women will be honored.

YWCA officials say Chafee was one of the first nurses in the state to work with HIV and AIDS patients. She helped found the Rhode Island Free Clinic in Providence to care for uninsured people and has been advocate for the poor.

Hannon is a full-time logistics officer with the 143rd Airlift Wing who leads more than 70 airmen. She founded a women's mentoring group for career development and networking and volunteers as the airlift wing's sexual assault response coordinator.
