LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) _ The new table games at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln are proving popular among gamblers.
State Division of Lottery data reviewed by WPRI-TV show the Las Vegas-style betting games including blackjack and craps raked in nearly $8 million from June 19 to July 31. The state got about $1.4 million of that revenue.
State voters approved Twin River's expansion from a slot parlor to a full-fledged casino last fall. The casino hired 400 new workers, completed a $7 million renovation and installed 66 tables for the new games, which also include baccarat and roulette. The new games began June 19.
Casino officials say blackjack has emerged as the most popular table game.
The state data also suggest the table games have boosted the casino's revenue from slot machines
