Scrolling through my feed this morning I was absolutely appalled to come across this story.
These photo's started making their rounds on social media Saturday of 5 lions held at Al-Qureshi Park in the capital city of Khartoum Sudan.
Osman Salih who saw the lions over the weekend, was so moved to start the effort on their behalf.
Since exposing the inhumane treatment of the lions activists around the globe have begun mobilizing to come to the aid of the animals however park officials have been less sympathetic.
Officials at Al-Qureshi Park say food has become more difficult to obtain due to the country’s economic woes.
“Food is not always available so often we buy it from our own money to feed them,” park manager Essamelddine Hajjar told global news agency Agence France-Presse.
Since Osman Salih's first visit over the weekend he's been back to the zoo, only to find that one of the female lions had succumbed to her illness and passed away Monday.
While the situation seems to be improving slowly they are still asking for assistance helping these majestic creatures.
