2021 Thanksgiving Dinner Could Be the Most Expensive Ever!

There are a few less things to be thankful for this year. According to The New York Times, your 2021 Thanksgiving dinner might be the most expensive it’s ever been! Lots of factors are creating a perfect storm of cost increases, from supply chain issues and transportation costs to labor shortages and inflation, all of which will make your holiday meal cost quite a bit more.

The Times reports that the turkey could be the most expensive item on your table because costs have “more than doubled” in price from last year to this year. I already bought my Butterball because I heard they might be in short supply, and yes, that 17 pounder did cost me way more than last year. The price per pound for turkey has been about $1.36 since 2015, but expect that number to increase this year thanks to the higher price of corn, the main food commercially grown turkeys eat. Finding all the supplies you need this year could be a challenge so experts recommend you shop early for non-perishable food items and stock up.
