Late “Werewolves Of London” rocker Warren Zevon has made the ballot to join the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this year. Despite being eligible since 1994, the rocker- who passed away in 2003- is nominated for the very first time. And he needed a little help to get there.
“If anyone deserves to be, he does,” said “Piano Man” legend Billy Joel. “He was a real original, and I don’t know if that’s appreciated enough.” Joel has admitted to writing a letter to the Rock Hall of Fame on Zevon’s behalf, claiming Zevon “never got the attention he deserves.”
And Joel isn’t the only one. Zevon’s family thanked Joel and comedian David Letterman for being supporters of the push to join the Hall. For their part, Zevon’s family has thanked everyone for this moment: “To all musicians, music lovers, writers and historians who appreciate Warren Zevon’s unique contribution to music — thank you for helping to keep him and his catalog in the conversation.”
