White House Continues Fight For Assault Weapons Ban

The White House says President Biden will keep fighting to ban assault weapons following recent mass shootings.

During a briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the President believes it's important to keep the gun issue on the minds of Americans.

Biden recently said he was going to try to get rid of assault weapons during the lame-duck session, despite an uphill battle to secure 10 Republican votes in the Senate.

Meantime, Senator Jack Reed - talking about recent mass shootings in this country said, "More Republicans need to accept the fact that our gun laws are not strong enough. We have to find a way to get weapons of war off our streets. We can make cities, towns, and communities nationwide safer by reinstating the assault weapons ban.”

Jean-Pierre said Biden believes it's up to him to make the case for why it's critical to move forward with an assault weapons ban.
