Principal Skydives After Students Reach Goal

A high school principal in Virginia is proving she’s a woman of her word by following through on a promise to go skydiving. York High School principal Shannon Butler told students she’d jump out of a plane at Skydive Suffolk if they raised over $20,000 with a school fundraiser.

Butler made the promise in a YouTube video last month as her students prepared to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was encouraged to do the daredevil stunt to motivate the community to reach into their pockets and it worked, this year the kids passed their $15,000 goal with a grand total and raised $20,284.

So over the weekend, parents, teachers, city leaders, and lots of students came out to watch the skydiving principal. And she had a blast, all for a good cause.
