One of my favorite musicals is going to be made into a movie! A film adaptation of the Broadway show "Wicked" will now be directed by Jon M. Chu, who you may know as the director of the movies "Crazy Rich Asians" and "In the Heights." The film was to be directed by Stephen Daldry, but he had to step away from the project, so Chu took over.
No word yet who will be in it. How about some of the folks who starred in the show on Broadway or the touring cast? I saw Ana Gasteyer play Elphaba in NYC several years ago, she was fantastic! David Garrison aka Steve Rhoades on Married With Children, made a great Wizard of Oz when the show was here in Providence at PPAC. And of course there's always the incredible Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth!
Whoever is in it, I can't wait for this movie!
