"Dug" the Dog from the Disney/Pixar Movie "Up" is Getting a Series!

I have such a love hate relationship with Disney movies. They are so funny, but also heart-wrenching to watch. One Disney/Pixar flick that always makes me ugly cry is the 2009 film "Up" starring the voice of Ed Asner. Asner plays Carl Fredricksen a crochety 78-year-old. He and his wife scrimped and saved every penny to be able to go on some adventures, but she passed away before that could happen. They were also never able to have any children.

Fed up with life, Carl ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to South America, however, he soon learns that a little Boy Scout named Russell is a stowaway. At first Carl isn't happy to have someone along for the ride, but Russell brings out the best in him and they have a wonderful adventure.

The parts where you'll laugh out loud during this film come from the "talking dog" Dug that they meet. He's wearing a collar that interprets his barks so you can understand what he's saying, and it's hilarious.

Well now Dug is getting his own series! The new show “Dug Days” will premiere on Disney+ on September 1st, and it will feature five episodes. Ed Asner will voice Carl again for the show, and Bob Peterson, the original voice of Dug from the movie, will reprise his role as well.

I'm sure it's totally intended for a young audience, but I'll absolutely check it out. And yes I'll have my tissues ready just in case!
