Creator of "Hamilton" Spoke to Audience Before First Show After Shutdown!

Broadway is back! And the creator of the mega hit musical "Hamilton" was there to welcome the audience as they returned to the Richard Rodgers Theatre! This week, four of the most popular musicals, including "Hamilton," reopened in New York City after being shut down for 18 months due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Lin-Manuel Miranda is so happy that shows are back up and running, and he let everyone know it!

Not only did he get up on stage and talk to the crowd before the show, he also sang "New York, New York" along with some of the cast members outside the theater earlier in the evening.

He said, "I wanna thank the front-line workers. I wanna thank the actors fund that has been keeping our community together, the year and a half that we have been trying to hold ourselves together. I don't ever want to take live theater for granted ever again."

Broadway initially closed down performances on March 12, 2020, and the pause was only supposed to be for about a month, but as the situation got worse, the shutdown continued. Now shows are back, let's hope they're here to stay this time!
