Decoration Safety is Top Worry for American's at the Holidays!

With all the things there are to worry about in the world today, looks like the thing that worries most Americans at the holiday season is Christmas decorations!

According to a new survey, almost 44% of people asked said they worry about the safety of their kids and pets this time of year. They are concerned that they might get into decorations and hurt themselves. Because of this, many will avoid certain decorations including tinsel, fake snow and incandescent lights, opting for the cool to the touch LEDs instead.

Yes, definitely avoid the tinsel. At Halloween my cat ate some tinsely door curtain decorations, and ended up at the emergency vet at a cost of almost $2000!

Not sure if this counts as a decoration, but in South Africa a snake was discovered in a family’s Christmas tree! They noticed their cats watching the tree intently, checked it out and found a little heat poking out from behind an ornament. Turns out it was a snake. And not just any old snake, but the most poisonous snake in South Africa, a venomous boomslang. The owner of the house got some tongs, grabbed the snake and threw it outside. Yeah...I would have left the house with the snake inside and then burned it down thank you very much.

Stay safe this holiday season!
