Happy 100th Birthday to The Bloody Mary!

Happy Birthday to The Bloody Mary! The favorite cocktail of brunch goers everywhere, has just turned 100 years old.

A French bartender named Fernand Petiot is said to have invented the Bloody Mary in 1921. He was working at The New York Bar in Paris when he whipped up the drink with a simple mix of vodka and tomato juice. He published the recipe in a book called “Harry’s ABC of Cocktails.”

Today, the same watering hole, now known as Harry’s Bar, serves somewhere around 12,000 Bloody Mary’s every year! And it’s still made in the same way it was a century ago, right in the glass.

The bar’s recipe for the drink now includes salt and pepper, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, vodka and tomato juice.

Tonight, Harry’s Bar has a party planned to celebrate! Read more HERE!
