Thefts of French Bulldogs Are On the Rise!

If you are the proud pet parent of a little French Bulldog, you may want to keep a close eye on it. Apparently, they are often stolen right from their owners, sometimes at gunpoint!

Across the United States in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and elsewhere, thefts of the tiny dog breed have been rising. Since they are so small, and often friendly, they’re an easy target.

These dogs are super valuable too selling for thousands of dollars on the black market. Lots of celebrities own French Bulldogs, including Lady Gaga, who’s pet bulldogs Koji and Gustav were stolen from her dog walker. He was shot and wounded. Luckily, he survived the attack, and the dogs were recovered.

The vice president of the American Kennel Club, Brandi Hunter Munden, told AFP (The Agence France-Presse,) “This is not a breed that has large litters...and it can take a while to get one. Their rise in popularity has led to an increase in thefts. The use of violence, however, is new and alarming."

So make sure you’re extra alert the next time you’re walking your furry friend!
