Southwest to Give 25,000 Rewards Points to Delayed/Cancelled Passengers

If you were one of the thousands of Southwest Airlines passengers whose flights were delayed or cancelled over the holidays, the company is trying to make good.

Southwest CEO Bob Jordan sent out emails to affected travelers announcing that the company would be giving them 25,000 frequent flyer bonus points with a value of around $300 as a "gesture of goodwill."

Those passengers whose flights were either canceled or delayed by more than three hours between Christmas Eve and January 2nd will be receiving the points.

Jordan said the company is also "on track to get the majority if not all bags shipped to our customers later this week." He wrote, "I know that no amount of apologies can undo your experience. For those who have requested refunds, reimbursements and/or are waiting to be reunited with your lost bag(s), those processes are being handled with great urgency and we appreciate your patience."
