Isn’t Iron Man dead? That doesn’t seem to matter much to Marvel, as insiders say the studio is trying to recruit Robert Downey Jr. to return for 2026’s “Avengers: Secret Wars.” But, the actor, whose salary jumped from $500,000 for the original “Iron Man” movie to $75 million for “Avengers: Endgame,” is playing hard ball- even though his character Tony Stark/Iron Man died in “Endgame.”
Downey and his team are reportedly asking for $80 million upfront and a percentage of the movie’s profits. There is currently no word on whether Marvel would accept this offer, but insiders say execs would like to close some deal in time to make the huge announcement for San Diego Comic Con in July.
