Will Smith Attends First Awards Ceremony Since the "Oscar Slap"

Almost a year after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, Will Smith has ventured back into awards season. Last night he attended the African American Film Critics Association Awards to accept the Beacon Award.

Smith and director Antoine Fuqua accepted the Beacon Award for their movie “Emancipation” about a slave named Peter who escapes from a Louisiana plantation and makes the dangerous journey North.

The award recognizes films that take on challenging subjects with insight.

Of course, Will Smith won't be at the Oscars for a while, he's been banned from that for 10 years.
