PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State police have identified a man killed in an early morning crash on Route 6 in Providence.

Troopers say 44-year-old Shadrach Walker of Providence died after his minivan hit a tow truck parked in the westbound breakdown lane shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday. His 12-year-old son was with him in the minivan, but wasn't hurt.

Authorities say the driver of the AAA flatbed tow truck had stopped to help a person who ran out of gas. The tow truck driver was brushed by his own vehicle after the impact, but wasn't hurt.

State police are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
