JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) — Local and state fire marshals are trying to determine what caused a fire that ripped through a triple-decker home in Johnston.

Firefighters were called to the home on Greenville Avenue at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday after police officers spotted the blaze. Officials say the building was vacant and no one was injured.

Flames were shooting out of two floors of the house when authorities arrived, and firefighters from several area departments were called in to help.

Authorities were on the scene for several hours.
