While a lot of us struggled to choose just the right gift for Father’s Day this year, John Gossett’sdaughters knew exactly what they wanted to get their dad. His kidneys had failed because of diabetes, and after a donor kidney failed on him, too, his kids wanted to donate one to him themselves.
All of his daughters were tested to see if they were suitable donors and 24-year-old transplant nurse Erin was found to be the best match. So she was able to give her father her kidney for Father’s Day, kind of earning her best gift for life!
She says the decision to donate her kidney to her dad was an easy one. "He's done more than I could ever ask for for a dad,” Erin explains. “This was just kind of scratching the surface on paying him back.”
