RISD Students Barricade Themselves In Campus Building

A group of students gathered for a candlelight vigil outside of the RISD building where more than 20 pro-Palestine demonstrators have barricaded themselves.

Protesters want the school to disclose its endowments, publicly condemn Israel's actions and divest from companies that "facilitate the genocide in Gaza."

The protesters say they will not leave until the university meets their demands.

RISD's President says she has spoken with members of the board of trustees regarding the demands.

Crystal Williams says, however until students vacate academic spaces, no longer impede the rights of others, and agree not to disrupt Commencement, she will not continue to advocate for them to gain an audience with the investment committee.
