British Songwriter-Guitarist Accuses U2 Of Stealing His Song

(Undated)  --  A British songwriter and guitarist is accusing U2 of stealing one of his songs for their 1991 album "Achtung Baby."  In a lawsuit filed yesterday in New York, Paul Rose alleges U2 lifted elements of his song "Nae Slappin'" for their song "The Fly."  The lawsuit claims U2 heard his song after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band signed to Island Records in 1989, the same year Rose provided a demo tape to recording studio executives.  Rose is seeking songwriting credit for "The Fly" and five-million dollars in damages and lawyer's fees.
