Normally, when kids don’t listen to what their parents tell them to do, there are negative consequences. But when Camdyn Smith disobeyed his mom, it actually saved her life.
The nine-year-old came home from school in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, to find his mother, Kimberly, suffering from chest pains and having trouble breathing. She wanted to take a nap to feel better, but her wise little boy insisted she go to the hospital.
“I kept saying that we needed to go,” Camdyn says. “So, I just went and got my shoes and coat on and told her we needed to go.” His mom finally listened and when she went to the doctor, they found a pulmonary embolism - a condition where the arteries in her lungs were blocked by blood clots. She may never have woken up from that nap she wanted and now owes her life to her son, who wouldn’t listen to her.
