If you're bad at returning books, you should start taking out books at Phillipsburg Free Public Library in New Jersey. They cap their late fees at $3, which is especially nice for whoever returned Jules Verne's "Dropped From the Clouds" 50-years after it was due.
The book was left in the book drop, so it's unclear who actually returned it. "It looks like someone loved it for a long time," library director Deb Messling says. "Hopefully it did some good out in the world."
The Phillipsburg library charges 10-cents a day for overdue books, which means if the library didn't have a cap, the borrower would have to cough up more than $18-hundred.
