Each year Rockport Elementary School in Arnold, Missouri has a mother son dance. And because his mom isn’t in the picture, nine-year-old Mason Tucker didn’t have any interest in going with his aunt or grandmother, as his dad, Zack suggested.
But the boy’s attitude changed when his principal, Janine Hueter, invited Mason to go to the dance with her. She told him she’d be happy to have him join her and her sons for the evening and Mason was ecstatic.
Zack says the gesture means so much to him and his son and he can’t thank Hueter enough for including Mason. "She is always doing things for the kids and always reaching out,” he explains. “And those things may not mean a lot to some people but to me as a single father her and this school have helped me out tremendously.”
