A few months ago, word had leaked out that there were some imminent job cuts coming for ESPN. Yesterday, those layoffs became reality for many of the company’s employees. As far as faces that you might recognize, anchors like Darren Haynes, Jade McCarthy, Chris Hassel, Jay Crawford, and Jaymee Sire all got their walking papers.
As far as correspondents, you’ll see the likes of Jim Bowden, Marysol Castro, Reese Waters, Greg Ostendorf, and Trent Dilfer also looking for work elsewhere. There were also a ton of writers that got let go as well.
Amongst those names you’ll find the likes of baseball writer Jayson Stark, several regional and beat writers for specific teams and cities, and then there were some producers who got cut. It’s likely that more names will be added in the coming days. Also, expect to see “reduced roles” for the likes of Hannah Storm, Karl Ravech, and Ryen Russillo.
