Erin Moran's Husband Shares Her Final Days

Erin Moran passed away on Saturday, and now her husband is opening up about her final days. In a letter posted to Scott Baio’s Facebook page yesterday, Steve Fleischmann revealed that she started getting sick this past Thanksgiving.

Steve said Erin woke up with a dime-sized bloodstain on her pillow. At first, she thought she’d bit her tongue in her sleep. A few days later, there was more blood and he looked down her throat and saw what he thought was tonsillitis. She was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Even though she immediately started getting radiation and chemotherapy, she got sicker. He said, “By the middle of February, Erin could no longer speak or eat or drink. She had a feeding tube implant and I [fed] her six to eight times a day.”

Erin was having trouble breathing the day before she died. When she woke up on Saturday, she wasn’t feeling well. Steve said she needed Kleenex, which he got for her. When he returned from the store, she was watching TV in bed. He laid down next to her and held her hand as they fell asleep. He woke up an hour later, but she was already gone.
