We all know that a wedding is supposed to be ALL about the bride - and a little about the groom - but apparently one best man didn’t get that message. And the Internet is up in arms over it.
A bride recently wrote into Slate’s Dear Prudence advice column asking if she has the right to be angry over the actions of her husband’s best man, who was also their officiant. Apparently, the best man “John” got so emotional that he proposed to his girlfriend “Jane” and announced she was pregnant IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CEREMONY!
“I couldn’t even hear the vows my husband wrote or the rest of the ceremony over the noise of Jane’s happy sobs,” the bride writes, not to mention all the congratulations from her family, who were also at the wedding.
But the inappropriate behavior didn’t stop there. During John’s toast he proceeded to talk about his future with Jane, not about the newly married couple. He also asked the band to play a special song for him and his new fiancée.
Needless to say, the newlyweds haven’t talked to John and Jane since, but shockingly the couple’s friends think they should “just get over it.” The groom isn’t ready to forgive though and joked that maybe he would when “John and Jane give him a $40,000 check for ‘their half of the wedding.’”
Of course, Prudence took the side of the newlyweds, but suggested trying to talk to John before throwing their friendship away. But after the story was shared online, Twitter came out in full force for the wronged couple. “John and Jane got the most expensive FREE engagement party!,” one wrote. “I would hit the roof!!”
