It's a struggle for some military veterans every year when the Fourth of July rolls around: post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms are brought on by fireworks in their neighborhoods. Mike Weaver of Wyoming served in Vietnam and like many other veterans, hates when people light things off late at night in the area around major holidays like the Fourth of July. Veterans can get yard signs from a national group to alert neighbors to the fact a military veteran lives there. Weaver says he normally will walk around his house when the booms start going off, checking all his windows and doors. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency host fireworks-free camping at several state parks to try to help.
Please be mindful of your neighbors when firing off fireworks.Source: MetroSource
