Women of color are getting bombarded by chemicals.
According to a new study published in the “American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology,” “Pressure to meet Western standards of beauty means Black, Latina and Asian American women are using more beauty products, and thus are exposed to higher levels of chemicals known to be harmful to health.”
Hair straighteners are a particular problem. Chemical straighteners contain chemical compounds that mimic estrogen, which can trigger premature reproductive development in girls as well as uterine tumors. To pile on even more, if the women are also low income, chances are their environment are a contributor to illness because low income areas are known to contain higher levels of chemicals.
If you can avoid, use as few chemicals as possible for a healthier you.
