Back in 1970, particularly rough waters off the coast of Dennis Port, Massachusetts took Patrick O’Hagan's class ring right off his hand. Almost half a century later, it's been returned.
The ring was a gift from O'Hagan's now wife to mark his graduation from Manhattan College a year earlier. Jim Wirth found the piece of jewelry 47-years later in the Dennis Port sand thanks to his handy metal detector.
Wirth was able to contact the O'Hagans, who live on Long Island. “He was thrilled,” wife Kehl says of her husband's reaction to the ring being found. “We were both thrilled. He could have gotten another copy of it, but it just wasn’t the same.”
