Today’s the day when the President of these United States gets to pardon a turkey. The life-saving ceremony isn’t the only thing that this lucky bird gets to be privy to, however. On Sunday evening, the two turkeys, Wishbone and Drustick – because one is an “emergency stand-by” bird kinda like the Miss American runner-up – were checked into a four-star hotel. The Willard InterContinental Hotel’s where they stayed in a $267 room that had been “turkey-proofed.” Yesterday, they were moved to the White House, get their POTUS pardon and move on to becoming part of the “Gobbler’s Rest” exhibit at Virginia Tech.
