Warwick police are warning about a scam.
Residents have been getting phone calls from someone impersonating an officer threatening arrest if a payment isn't made on an alleged warrant or subpoena. The scammer wants funds wired, or gift cards purchased.
According to a statement last night from police: “The Warwick Police will never call demanding repayment of fines in lieu of arrest and ask for payment over the phone!
The phone number is spoofed to look like it's from the police station.
