The annual Newport Burger Bender celebrates the creativity and diversity of burgers in Newport County, Rhode Island. It was established in 2017 as part of the Newport Winter Festival, and has since grown to include more than 50 participating restaurants from Newport and nearby towns. The event runs for 10 days from February 16th to February 25th. Burger lovers can try the limited-edition burgers and vote for their favorite in three categories: best beef, best non-beef, and best plant-based. As the Providence Journal's Food Editor Gail Ciampa writes, the burgers featured in the Newport Burger Bender are not your ordinary patties. They are made with various ingredients, such as short rib, brisket, chouriço, duck confit, pork belly, bison, seafood, and more. They are also topped with different sauces, cheeses, relishes, jams, and eggs, and served on various kinds of buns, such as bolo, pretzel, brioche, and gluten-free. The event showcases the culinary talent and innovation of the local chefs, as well as the rich flavors and cultures of the region. The Newport Burger Bender is a must-try for any burger enthusiast who wants to experience the ultimate burger adventure.
