The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says 46 dogs removed from a home in Pawtucket are ready for adoption.

The dogs were taken from the home in deplorable conditions, but have been cleaned up and received needed veterinary care.

"7 males and 2 females available. We believe them to be Lhasa Apso / Shih Tzu mixes. They are approximately 20 lbs. and between 2 and 4 years old," according to a Facebook posting.

Applications may be submitted through RISPCA-dot-org.

The former owners, identified as Helena and Jose Galvao have been charged with unnecessary cruelty for failure to provide adequate living conditions.
