Occupation Of School Building Ends After "Expulsion" Threat

Occupation of the Washington Place building at the Rhode Island School of Design has ended.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators left the building Thursday after President Crystal Williams told them to vacate the space and undergo a "restorative justice process" or face expulsion.

The students who occupied the building were told they would be responsible for returning the space to its original state by this afternoon.

In addition, the demonstrators must meet with the students and faculty who were negatively affected by their actions and engage in respectful dialogue.

The demonstrators must also reimburse those who spent personal funds on projects that are no longer viable as a result of the occupation.
