Providence City Council Chief Of Staff Arrested In DC Peace Protest

One of the hundreds of people arrested in Washington this week is the Chief of Staff for the Providence City Council, June Rose says she and about 400 others were arrested protesting the war in the Middle East.

She was part of the group calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to commit to a permanent cease fire and for the US to quit arming Israel.

The arrests came just ahead of Israel's Prime Minister speaking to a joint session of Congress.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is lashing out at anti-Israel protesters.

During his address to a joint meeting of Congress today, the prime minister said protesters are choosing to stand with rapists and murderers.

He said protesters should be ashamed of themselves, calling them "Iran's useful idiots."

Meantime, the Providence City Council President Rachel Miller said she had a conversation about Rose's actions. She says they happened on her vacation time. Miller says she will glad to have Rose back in Providence soon.
