The Rhode Island House and the Senate will return to the State House today to begin the 2026 legislative session.
One of the top issues lawmakers will face is health care, as more than 33-thousand people stand to lose Medicaid coverage by year's end due to funding cuts.
The state's budget gap of more than 101-million-dollars could also increase because of federal spending cuts and the possible state bailout of two privately-owned hospitals.
Education, housing, the Washington Bridge and other transportation matters are also on the agenda.
