Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee has submitted his fiscal 2027 budget.
The governor says the 15-billion-dollar spending plan makes key investments to help families with the rising cost of living; it shields vulnerable residents from federal cuts and continues to invest in projects that support jobs and the economy.
The budget includes a millionaire's tax and another cigarette tax increase along with a cut in the gas tax and the phasing out of taxes on Social Security income.
The spending proposal is 500-million-dollars higher than last year's budget.
