Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey questioning if the Department of Homeland Security is creating a database of protesters.
The Democrat sent a letter to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons asking if federal officers are collecting the information of people who are peacefully protesting in Minnesota.
He said if so, it's a "shocking violation" of the first amendment.
DHS said last week there was no such database after CNN reported that federal officers were gathering the personal information of demonstrators.
