Blizzard Of 2026 Breaks Rhode Island's 1978 Snowfall Record

The Blizzard of 2026 has broken the Rhode Island snowfall record.

As of Monday afternoon, the latest winter storm had dropped nearly 33-inches of snow at T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, surpassing the two-day snowfall record of 28-point-6-inches of snow left by the Blizzard of 1978.

By 8 p.m., snow totals at the airport reached nearly 38-inches of accumulation.

The storm recovery is expected to last for days with school cancellations and the postponement of events across the state.

The Rhode Island House and Senate have cancelled all sessions for today.
