Governor McKee Calls For Tariff Refund

Governor Dan McKee wants the federal government to refund millions of dollars in tariff payments to Rhode Islanders.

The governor has sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling for a payment of 770-million-dollars following the Supreme Court's ruling that President Trump's tariffs were unlawful.

It's estimated that President Trump's tariff measures raised costs for American consumers by more than 17-hundred-dollars per household over the past year.

Governor McKee says for many Rhode Island families the refund would make a meaningful difference by helping to offset the cost of groceries, rent, and other essential expenses.
