Former L.A. Dodger-RI Native Davey Lopes Dead At 80

Former Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman and two-time World Series champion Davey Lopes has died at the age of 80.

Lopes was born in East Providence.

The Dodgers announced Lopes passed away on Wednesday following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Lopes had reportedly been receiving treatment in Rhode Island before his death.

The four-time All-Star played ten of his 16-year MLB career with the Dodgers from 1972 to 1981.

He later went on to coach in the pros, including three seasons as the Milwaukee Brewers manager.
